A brief history of the company "Le Masciare":

Our dream, a sustainable viticulture to reinvent and innovate the territory and the great native Irpinia vines - Fiano, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. A project lasting generations, for wines that do not fear the test of time.

In the ancient Irpinian tradition, the Masciare are the witches who protect the crops by exercising magic to dominate the forces of nature.

Le Masciare has modest origins, having been founded in 2001 with only 4 hectares of olive groves and 4 hectares of Aglianico vineyards. After a few years we discovered the uniqueness of the territory for the winemaking of Campania wines native. This is demonstrated by the release of some extraordinary reds since 2007 onwards. Our mission is to produce excellent Irpinia wines in small batches that are the best possible expression of the local Irpinia vines: the Aglianico , the Fiano , the Greek and the Foxtail .

To do this we focus on the quality of our vineyards, our grapes and our wines. The best wines are made with the best grapes. For this reason it is very important that the right vineyards are selected, that give grapes with character and quality.

"Excellent Irpinia wines with a sense of place, combining character with pleasantness"

What does "wines with a sense of place" mean? For us, it means that when you taste our Irpinia wines , you taste a territory: the minerality of the soil, the freshness of the mountain climate. All this, combined with a very captivating taste.

Making great wines is something you do for the long haul. A project that lasts generations. That’s why we chose to farm sustainably, converting all our vineyards to organic farming. All this to make our wines truly worthy of age. Elegant and fresh when young, but gaining complexity and depth with age.

The winery is now managed day by day by Erik, Virna and our cellarman Michele.

For more information on the uniqueness of the Campania wines and Irpinia, which hosts 3 of the DOCG wines of central and southern Italy, visit the Irpinia vineyards site and come and discover with us the magic of a fantastic and authentic territory.

We also have B&B rooms, directly on our vineyards in Paternopoli, to welcome tourists who choose to Adopt a vine at our winery.
